Announcing the 3rd Annual ANC Director Training Course

"Become a Guiding Beacon on Your Board"

The Hotel Captain Cook – Anchorage

March 15-17, 2010

A Good Director Never Goes Unprepared

No one goes unprepared or poorly partnered onto the icy sea in search of whales, across the tundra in search of caribou, or down the rivers in search of a salmon harvest—it might cost everyone their lives. The boardroom is a daunting place for the uninformed, the unprepared, and inexperienced—and even the experienced need to sharpen their skills to meet today's new threats, challenges, and effectively fulfill their governance responsibilities.

Spend three days with us and you'll be started on a path to prepare for tomorrow—with an intensive course in roles, responsibilities, and board best practices that help you meet the challenges of building a corporation that enriches your people's way of life. Become a guiding beacon on your board!

About The Course

A total of 181 ANC Directors and CEOs have attended the Annual ANC Director Training Course since it was launched in 2008. They represent participation by 4 Regional Corporations and 29 Village Corporations. Evaluations of the Course have been overwhelmingly positive.

"This was a great course, loud and clear."

"I really enjoyed the training and dialog with both large and small groups."

"This was the best training we've ever had."

The 2010 ANC Director Training Course is being expanded to three days and will include 12 faculty members, 16 topics, both general and concurrent breakout sessions, and class sizes planned to facilitate optimum interaction with the Course's faculty.

Designed to enhance the effectiveness of Directors in contributing to their Board and the success of their corporations, it also is a peer forum where ANC Directors exchange knowledge from their wide range of experiences.

A highlight and new addition to this year's agenda is the Talk Show on the final day of the Course. All attendees are invited to ask any question they have about governing their organizations and fulfilling their oversight and fiduciary duties. This session will be moderated by the Institute's Executive Director and will include the Course's faculty. All in attendance will have the opportunity to participate as time permits during this high-energy, fast-paced session.
